Rosendo "Ross" G. Casillas, 84, of Fort Stockton, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, in Fort Stockton.
Recitation of the Most Holy Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet will be at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson, Texas. The funeral Mass will be held immediately after, beginning at 4:00 p.m., with Fr. Francis Njoku officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Rita Cemetery. Arrangements are handled by Eternity Funeral Home.
Ross was born in Del Rio, Texas to Rosendo Casillas and Luz Gonzales Casillas on October 24, 1936. He graduated from Sanderson High School in 1957. Ross married Noemi Ochoa on August 10, 1957, in Sanderson. He worked for The Texas Department of Transportation for 35 years.
Ross very much loved his immediate and extended family. He always enjoyed when his family was together.
Ross is preceded in death by his father, Rosendo Casillas, his mother, Luz Gonzales Casillas, and great-grandson, Mark Anthony Torres.
Ross is survived by his wife, Noemi Casillas, his sons, Ross Casillas, Duvan Casillas and daughter Crystal Casillas; grandsons: Joseph Casillas and Giovani Casillas; granddaughters: Brandi Alvarado (Jerry), Lauren Casillas, Taylor Casillas, Daniella Porras (Raul), Aleyni Casillas (Mark); great-grandchildren: Legend Russell, Jennesis Casillas, Naylene Casillas, Brailee Cancino, Gabrielle Cancino, Juliana Alvarado, Jovani Casillas, Tyus Gonzales, Jacob Alvarado, and Justin Alvarado. Ross is also survived by his siblings: Rosa Bravo (Jose), Abelardo "Abe" Casillas (Yvonne), Ida Casillas, and Adelina "Nina" Garcia (Joe).
The Casillas family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Griffith, Dr. Shen, Dr. Medina, Jeremy Calzada-Physical Therapist, home hospice, social workers, Fr. Francis Njoku and the staff with the Catholic Communities of St. James in Sanderson and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Fort Stockton, Joe and Nina Garcia and family.
