Our precious mother, Ofelia Castro Ramirez, 74 of Sanderson, TX, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Yuma, Arizona.

Ofelia was born in Crystal City, TX to Merced and Cruz Castro on October 15, 1949. She married Jimmy F. Ramirez, Sr. on March 7, 1972, in Sanderson, TX. Together they made their home and raised their children and grandchildren. She devoted her life to her family as a homemaker, she strived effortlessly to make sure her children never went without. If she was not in the kitchen making tortillas, you would be sure to find her playing Bingo or Loteria at the hall or with friends. Ofelia was well known for her fiestiness, but she would always go to the end of the earth for those she loved. She was a devoted Catholic and active Guadalupana at St. James Catholic Church in Sanderson.

Ofelia is preceded in death by her parents, Merced and Cruz Castro, 4 brothers and 5 sisters.

Ofelia is survived by her husband Jimmy F. Ramirez, Sr. children: Yvette Ramirez, Annette Ramirez, Nanette (Isaac) Beltran, Jimmy (Shyanne) Ramirez, Jr., and Lizette Ramirez, 22 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, siblings: Maria Del Carmen Pena, Eloisa Gutierrez, and Raynaldo (Sophie) Castro.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Ramirez, Jr., Jesus Campos, Jacobi Campos, Alonzo Lopez, Jeremiah Ramirez, Derek Campos and Honorary Pallbearer, Christian Diaz.

Visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church located at 209 E Hackberry St., Sanderson, Texas on Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 3:00pm - 8:00pm. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm.

A Funeral Mass, officiated by Fr. Fancis Njoku, will be held at St. James Catholic Church located at 209 E Hackberry St., Sanderson, Texas on Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00pm. Burial to follow at Santa Rita Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.
