Mauricio "Peewee" Sarabia Montanez, 78, of Fort Stockton, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, in Fort Stockton, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Eternity Funeral Home Chapel B in Fort Stockton.

Funeral services will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 20, 2025, also at Eternity Funeral Home Chapel B, with Pastor Richard Martinez officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

Mauricio was born in Fort Stockton to Juan Montanez and Hortensia Vizcarra. He attended school locally and later married Manuela Martinez Montanez in Fort Stockton. Mauricio worked as a head cook in various restaurants throughout his life and was well-known for his passion for cooking. He took pride in his craft and was often complimented on the delicious meals he prepared.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Juan Montanez and Hortensia Vizcarra; stepfather Piemenio Arcides; wife Manuela Montanez; sisters Maria Elena Velasquez and Rosalinda Arcides; and brother Gilbert Arcides.

Left to cherish his memory are his children: Mauricio Montanez Jr., Michael Montanez, Jimmy Montanez, and Gilbert Montanez, all of Fort Stockton; his brother Oscar Arcides (Fort Stockton); sisters Grace Quintela and Julia Franco (Fort Stockton), and Josie Reyes (California); six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Mauricio "Peewee" will be remembered for his kind heart, his dedication to family, and his talent in the kitchen. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
