In Loving Memory of Marie B. Prieto

Marie B. Prieto, 52, of Presidio, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2026, in El Paso, Texas, at 1:10 p.m.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Eternity Funeral Home, 600 E. Dickinson Blvd., Fort Stockton, Texas. A Rosary will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Marie was born in Pecos, Texas, on June 12, 1974, to Elvira Prieto and Amado Prieto. She grew up in Presidio, Texas, a place she proudly called home throughout her life. Presidio was more than just the town where she lived—it was where she grew up, went to school, raised her daughters, and built a life surrounded by family, friends, and a community she cared deeply about.

Marie dedicated more than 15 years of her life to Presidio Medical Center. Helping others was never simply a job to Marie; it was a part of who she was. She cared deeply for the people around her and was always willing to help in any way she could. So many people knew they could reach out to Marie, even on her personal phone, because they knew she would do whatever she could to help. Her kindness and caring heart touched countless lives.

To know Marie was to know her laughter. She was beyond funny, never afraid to be herself, and never afraid to talk to anyone. She never met a stranger. Her jokes, her quirks, her stubbornness, and especially her unforgettable laugh are memories that her family and friends will carry forever. Marie was a joy and a light to so many people. She had a way of making others feel comfortable, welcomed, and loved.

Marie was also a true girly girl at heart. She loved doing her hair, fashion, purses, clothes, perfumes, jewelry, crafting, and decorating. She loved watching TikToks about recipes and different foods she had never tried, always curious about what she might make next. These little things were part of what made Marie uniquely herself.

But above everything else, Marie loved being a mother. Her three daughters were her heart and her greatest joy. She was protective, loving, and fiercely devoted to them. Samantha, Desirae, and Marla were always close to their mother, and they talked every single day. Even when Desirae and Marla moved to El Paso for school and work, the distance never changed their relationship. Marie always found a way to stay close to her girls.

She loved her daughters with everything she had. Her family will remember the way she cared for them, worried about them, laughed with them, and always made sure they knew they were loved. Her daughters will carry her love with them for the rest of their lives.

Marie also had a very special place in her heart for her beloved “baby baby” Osito. She loved him as if he were her own son. Her daughters would even joke that she loved and missed Osito more than she loved and missed them. That special bond was one of the many things that made Marie who she was.

A Love That Was Uniquely Theirs

Marie shared a one-of-a-kind love with her husband, Gilberto Lujan (Gil). They were high school sweethearts, and somehow, after all those years, they were still the same goofy couple who could make each other laugh, get on each other’s nerves, and argue over just about anything. They loved each other deeply, even when they were busy arguing with one another. That was simply Marie and Gilberto; they had their own way of loving each other, and anyone who knew them knew it.

Marie especially never wanted to be without him. During her hospital stays, one of the things that mattered most to her was having him there beside her. She wanted her husband close, and he was. When Marie became sick, Gil did everything he could for her. He cared for her, stayed by her side, helped her through the hard days, and made sure she was never alone. He loved and cared for her until the very end.

Their love was not perfect, and it was never meant to be. It was real, funny, stubborn, sometimes argumentative, and full of love. They grew up together, built a life together, raised a family together, and remained each other’s person through it all. Marie could be stubborn, and so could he, but underneath every argument was a love that never went away. Their story began as two high school sweethearts and became a lifetime of memories, laughter, disagreements, forgiveness, and a love that carried them through the years.

Marie was deeply loved by her husband, and there was no doubt that she loved him just as deeply. She simply had her own funny way of showing it.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Elvira Prieto and Amado Prieto, as well as her sibllings Bobby Prieto, Frankie Prieto, and Nancy Prieto.

She leaves behind her beloved daughters and husband, Gilberto Lujan, Samantha Garcia, Desirae Lujan, and Marla Lujan, and her cherished “baby baby,” Osito. She is also survived by her sister, Nita Prieto, and her brothers, Eddie Prieto and JR Prieto, along with extended family, friends, coworkers, and the many people whose lives she touched throughout her life.

Her Legacy

Marie leaves behind a legacy of love—the kind of love that was unconditional, protective, generous, and sometimes wonderfully stubborn. She loved deeply and gave freely. She was the person who would help when someone needed her, make a stranger feel like a friend, and bring laughter into an ordinary moment.

Her greatest legacy, however, will always be the love she gave her daughters. She poured her heart into being their mother, and the love she gave them will continue through the lives they live and the memories they carry.

Marie will be remembered for her laughter, her humor, her kindness, her caring heart, her stubbornness, her beautiful quirks, and the light she brought wherever she went. She will be remembered in the stories her daughters tell, in the laughter that echoes through her family, in the people she helped, in the community she loved, and in all the little things that will forever remind those who knew her of home.

Though her time with us was far too short, the love Marie gave was immeasurable.

She was deeply loved. She will be deeply missed. And her light will never be forgotten.
