Juan Rivera was born on August 15, 1930, in Sanderson, Texas. Juan was the son of Jose and Tomasa Rivera. While in Sanderson, Juan married the mother of his children Margarita on November 16, 1956. Together they raised four children: Virginia, Melba, Johnny, and Rosie.
One day he learned Bible truths that impacted and transformed his life. He moved to Fort Stockton to be able to be closer to his place of worship, the Kingdom Hall. He was baptized as a Jehovah's Witness March 18, 1972. Juan lived up to his dedication to his god Jehovah till the end of his life. He spent a lot of his life volunteering his time, talking to people about those Bible truths he learned, he loved to share them with anyone who would listen. One of the Bible truths he enjoyed sharing was Rev 21 :3,4; John 5:28, 29 which both speak of the hope of the resurrection and no death in a paradise earth.
There were three things Juan loved and enjoyed in his life: his god Jehovah, his family, and football. Each of his children and grandchildren knew he loved and cared very much for them. He was a hard-working father, always providing for his family. He shared his love of football with his kids and grandkids. Football was a common conversation in the family. On October 9, 1999, he married Aurea. She was his companion for several years until her death. Together they enjoyed sharing their Bible knowledge with others in the community. Juan will be missed by many including his grandkids: Naomi, Marissa, Andy, James, Levi Brian, Jennifer, Michael and Samara. And many great grandchildren.
Juan is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Tomasa Rivera, his first wife Margarita Gamboa Rivera, his second wife Aurea Rodriguez Rivera, his daughter Melba Ortiz, siblings Ruben Rivera, Rosa Escamilla, Estela Flores, and Leonor Rivera.
Juan leaves his loving memory to be cherished to his daughters Virginia Urias, Rosie Harris, his son Johnny Rivera, sister Consuelo Maldonado, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
