Jose Raul Sanchez, 66 years of age, of Sanderson, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 9th, 2023, peacefully in his home.

Rosary will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 15, 2023, at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Father Francis Njoku of St. James Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Santa Rita Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

Sonny was born in Sanderson, Texas to Raul Sanchez and Amelia Fuentez on May 9, 1957. He went to school at Pflugerville High School. He married Lupe Lopez Sanchez on December 20th, 1980, in Sanderson, Texas. Sonny worked as a gas plant operator for 40 plus years. Sonny was a veteran of the United States Navy.

He is preceded in death by his father Raul Sanchez, mother Amelia Sanchez and brother Richard Sanchez.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lupe Sanchez of Sanderson, Texas, sons, Sonny Sanchez Jr. of North Padre Island, John C. Sanchez and Alyssa Sanchez of Jarrell, Texas, Michael R. Sanchez of Dallas, Texas. Brothers, George and Rosalinda Sanchez of San Angelo, Texas, Juan Sanchez of Waco, Texas, Mike and Karen Sanchez of Sanderson, Texas and Ray and Yolanda Sanchez of Sanderson, Texas. Grandchildren, Taylor A Sanchez, Jacqueline N Pina, Ella P Sanchez, Sonny Sanchez III, Leslie Jo Sanchez, Ivan Sanchez, Sophia L Sanchez and Cash Sanchez.

Pallbearers will be Juan Sanchez, Mike Sanchez, Ray Sanchez, Sonny Sanchez III, Ivan Sanchez, Marty Arredondo and Lupe Garza.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Sanchez Jr., John Sanchez, Michael Sanchez, Haze Roberts and Billy McDonald.
