Jose Escontrias, 83, of Presidio, Texas peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Odessa, Texas.

Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church in Presidio.

Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Santa Teresa Catholic Church with Father Mike officiating. A burial will follow at Desert Hills Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

Jose was born in California (lol) Ojinaga, Chihuahua to Benito Escontrias and Santana Lopez on March 23, 1940. He married Andrea Fuentes on November 27, 1965, in Morton, Texas. He worked in the fields and was a crew leader. Jose was a hardworking man with a great sense of humor.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents Benito and Santana Escontrias.

Jose is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Andrea Escontrias, sons Silverio Escontrias, Jose Luis Escontrias, daughter Luzema Ortega, grandchildren Luis Escontrias, Marco Escontrias, Iram Escontrias, Dago Ortega, Janis Ortega, Dagmar Ortega, Aimee and Ximena Escontrias, great grandchildren Luca Escontrias, Iram Escontrias, Josiah Ortega, Camila Ortega and Cielo Ortega.

Pallbearers will be all his grandchildren.
