Blas Lopez, 83, of Fort Stockton, TX, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, in Fort Stockton, TX.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, 2022, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Eternity Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish- St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Francis Njoku officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.
Blas Lopez was born in Barstow, TX to Panfilo Lopez and Rosa Mata on November 29, 1938. He was a graduate of Pyote High School in Pyote, TX. He was in the Air Force for two (2) years after high school and received an honorable discharge. He married his beautiful bride Elfida Venegas on August 15, 1970, in Odessa, TX. He retired after 24 years as a pumper from Texaco INC. He was a member of the GI Forum in Fort Stockton, TX, and he was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. Blas enjoyed his time with his loved ones. His hobbies were collecting baseball cards, and you could also catch him watching the Dallas Cowboys or the Texas Rangers on the television.
Blas Lopez is preceded in death by his first son Joe Angel Lopez, his parents, and his brother.
Blas Lopez is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ms. Elifda Venegas Lopez, his three children Oscar Rene Lopez, Esther Venegas Lopez, and Diana Venegas Lopez.
The family of Blas Lopez wishes to extend our sincere thanks to all the doctors and nurses at Pecos County Memorial Hospital that worked hard to help Blas. They would also like to thank Father Francis Njoku and everyone that helped with the planning of the funeral mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish.
