Obituary

It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Armida "Amy" Fabela on Wednesday, August 19th, 2026, in Fort Stockton, Texas at the age of 78.
Amy was born on June 25, 1948 in Potrero del Llano (La Mula), Chihuahua, Mexico to Francisco Gonzalez Fabela and Ramona Velasquez Fabela. She was one of 13 children in a hard-working, dedicated migrant worker family. This early childhood experience highly influenced her work ethic. Amy demonstrated her fierce pride and perseverance throughout her lifespan. Notably in her early adult life she worked as a seamstress for Royal Park Inc. She was also employed for many years as a test driver for Firestone. Amy exuded her strength, independence and determination in the 80's as she broke societal barriers by achieving her CDL and becoming a truck driver. This was not common work for a woman in a male-dominated field. In her later life she served as a correctional officer for TDCJ Lynaugh Unit.
Amy was a gripping presence in her family, she enjoyed lifelong friendships, and pursued knowledge and purpose in her belief as a Jehovah's Witness. She was diligent and empowered by endurance despite difficulties or hardships. She highly valued and encouraged the reward of hope, hard-work and heart. She taught those around her to be true to oneself. Amy loved music, the laughter and joy in her dance will remain a cherished memory. Amy was a dedicated grandmother and poured an abundance of love and guidance to those close to her.
Amy is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 3 sisters, her son Jerrod Lee Fabela and granddaughter Kayla Janelle Hernandez. She will be missed dearly by her surviving family; siblings Olga, Aurora, Patricia, Fidel and Samuel; children Audra Lee Perez, Christopher Lee Fabela, Quinten Lee Fabela, Andrescita Michelle Subia and Riva Devona Subia; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers and Honorary Guards as follows: Chris Fabela, Quinten Fabela, Riva Subia, Laila Subia, D'Angelo Rodriguez, Ceasar Blanco, Rigo Hernandez and Conan Hernandez.

Viewing will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026 from 12pm to 8pm at Eternity Funeral Home Chapel, all those are welcome who wish to share in her memory.

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at 10am at Eternity Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at East Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home of Fort Stockton, TX.
