Our beloved son and brother, Armando Portillo Jr., 39, of Midland, TX passed away on Friday, April 11th, 2025, in Lubbock, TX, after a courageous fight with cancer. We believe that Armando won his battle as he is now with our Lord Jesus Christ, free from all pain.

Services will be as follows: Visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, April 20, 2025, from 1pm to 8pm with a Rosary recited at 7pm at Eternity Funeral Home, Chapel B located at 600 E Dickinson Blvd. Fort Stockton, Tx 79735 just as he had planned, for him to be reunited with family on Easter Sunday.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish - St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Farther Francis officiating. Church located at 403 S Main St. Fort Stockton, TX 79735. Burial will follow at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Eternity Funeral Home.

Armando was born in Fort Stockton, Texas to Norma Villarreal Martinez on May 2nd, 1985. He attended and graduated from Ft. Stockton High School and later attended The Milan Institute of Cosmetology in San Antonio, TX, where his long and storied career began as a hairstylist. His journey began at Casa de Modas which later led to Armando owning and operating his own salon, Armando & Co., creating a stellar reputation in the local pageant industry, The Water Carnival led to a love and passion for all pageants and the pageantry life. Armando soon became the "go-to" stylist, traveling all over the world as a stylist for contestants in the Miss Texas, Miss Texas Teen, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA, Miss Universe, Miss New Mexico, Miss Austin, & Miss Houston pageants to name a few. This gave Armando the title of "The Traveling Hairstylist". His reputation also had movie stars such as Matthew and Rooster McConaughey calling for appointments for their families as well as the creator of the movie, Five Nights at Freddy's and the dancers of the Houston Astros.

As you can all see, Armando's passion and niche in life was to make everyone look and feel beautiful, building their confidence, always with a smile, a joke, or a kind word of encouragement. Armando never felt his art was work, it was a calling. And although he spent a lot of time traveling, Armando always made time for his family and friends, especially his nephews and nieces. Whether it was a t-ball game, basketball game, graduation, or birthday, he was sitting there in front and center or sending a gift when he couldn't. Uncle Mando always spoiled his "savages". As a brother he was always the strong one that we could lean on, and as a son he always took care of his momma, up until the very end.

Armando is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Candelario, Sr and Maria Guadalupe Villarreal.

Those left to cherish his life and memories are his mother, Norma Villarreal Martinez, Stepfather, Julian Martinez, Jr., his sister Martha Portillo Rangel (Robert), brothers Erik Portillo and Julio Martinez (Adriannah), all from Fort Stockton, his nephews Anthony Rangel, Aiden and Isaias Portillo, and Julius & Lucah Martinez, his nieces, Ellyana Rangel and Madalyn, Emerii, and Annalise (Shoogie) Martinez, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, too many to mention.

Pallbearers for Armando will be:

Erik Portillo, Julio Martinez, Robert Rangel, Robby Barriga, Matthew Martinez, Polito Villa, Nathan Urias, and Adrian Nevarez and Honorary Pallbearers are Anthony Rangel and Julius & Lucah Martinez.

Special thanks to all our dear family and friends who have stood by us during this difficult time. Our deepest gratitude to all the staff at University Medical Center of Lubbock, Tx, Dr Butler, Dr Fierro, and all the many nurses that took care of our dear son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. We would also like to show our appreciation to our lifelong childhood friend, Rosalie, for everything she did for our beloved Armando. We love you sister!
