Andres G.
Subia
Feb 12, 1942 — Sep 25, 2026
It is with grieving hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa Andres "Andy" G. Subia on Friday September 25th, 2026, in Odessa, Texas he was 84 years old.
Andres was born February 12,1942 in Fort Stockton, Tx to Lorenzo Gomez Subia and Ramona Galindo Subia and remained a loyal, lifelong resident to this community. During his familial upbringing he was influenced by his paternal grandparents.
In his young child/adulthood he demonstrated his Godly faith serving in the historic church of San Ignacio de Loyola located in "Little Mexico". His name is recorded amongst the founding families as historical artifact pertaining to the evolving cultural impact this church had to the Hispanic community in the early 50’s. His belief in God transcended into various faiths throughout his lifespan although his foundational belief in God never wavered.
Andy was known as a calm, reserved, private person that ultimately enjoyed his native West Texas environment. Andy preferred humble, quiet, country living and created a special bond with those close to him.
During the 80’s he thrived and found purpose in farming for his family. His greatest passion was found in nature. He was diligent in planting and harvesting crops from the ground up. He was fulfilled and did not hesitate in plowing, tilling and clearing fields to get the ground ready for seed. He embraced working full-time at Firestone and still managed and maintained his personal farm. He engaged in raising livestock and his animal farm during that time included chickens, goats, pigs, sheep, geese, horses, and a catfish pond. He also enjoyed carpentry, hunting, camping, fishing, collecting knives/guns, reading, drinking a good cup of coffee and watching a beautiful West Texas sunset.
Throughout his adult life he was mainly employed as a CDL truckdriver and ranch hand. His skills entailed operating heavy equipment machinery. One of the most memorable moments of his ranch hand career was working for Clayton Williams for numerous years and having the opportunity to post at High Lonesome Ranch. Prior to retirement Andres worked for Pecos County maintenance.
In his golden years Andy dedicated his time to his daughters, numerous grandchildren/great-grandchildren during their special visits. Andres will be remembered for his strong independence, gentle patience, quick-witted humor, generosity, kindness and most of all his loving nature.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Lorenzo Subia Jr., Maria Subia Dominguez, Fernanda Subia Martinez, Carmen Subia Gonzalez and granddaughter Kayla Janelle Hernandez.
He is survived by his siblings Carol, Joe, Irma and Francis. He will be greatly missed by his loving daughters Mary Ann Subia, Linda Subia Acosta, Diana Primos, Roxanna Subia Salinas, Andrescita Michelle Subia, Riva Devona Subia, 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
