Amelia E. Pena, 85, of Sanderson, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, in Sanderson, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on February 23, 1939, in Sanderson, Texas, to Antonio Esqueda and Valentina Guzman. She lived a remarkable life filled with love and devotion. She attended Sanderson High School and later married Alfredo Pena in Las Vegas, Nevada. For two decades, she dedicated herself to her work as a waitress at Oasis Café.

In her journey, Amelia faced both joy and sorrow. She mourned the loss of her father, Antonio Esqueda, her mother Valentina Guzman, her daughter Norma Arredondo, and her son Felix Arredondo. Yet, she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength, survived by her children Mario and Pat Arredondo, Frank and Corina Arredondo, Mike and Claudia Arredondo, David Arredondo, Pat and Robert Rivera. Her memory is further honored by her 16 grandchildren, 47 great- grandchildren, and 4 great- great- grandchildren.

As she is laid to rest, pallbearers Anthony Arredondo, Adam Arredondo, Amos Arredondo, Enrique Rivera, Cody Fuller, Robert Rivera, and Christian Hale, along with honorary pallbearers Andrew Usher and John Michael Guadarrama, carry her with love and reverence.

The family of Amelia Pena extends heart felt gratitude to Dr. Gougler, Dr. Rodriguez Velma, the nursing staff, Hospice Denis Child, Argelia Prieto, Andrew Franco, and Elva Rodriguez for their unwavering support during this difficult time. Amelia's legacy of love and resilience will forever be cherished by those whose lives she touched.
